Kay Young Glass
Mixed Media Glass Artist
Studio B15

Kay received a BFA in Textiles from The California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA. in the early 80’s. Kay grew up in Blair Nebraska and has traveled extensively to the American Southwest. Those travels and her early studies of Pre-Columbian textiles influence her current work with simple graphic images and bold color.

In the early 90’s, her production studio provided large quantities of dinnerware for well known stores like Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel of New York, Jacobson’s, Nordstroms, Von Maur, Borsheims, David M. Brian, museum shops, catalogs, and over 300 craft galleries in the USA and Canada. Her previous glass painting studio, large retail gallery, and New York showroom employed 26 employees. She eventually retired those businesses to embrace a simpler schedule.

Her glass has appeared in Better Homes & Gardens, Sunset, American Craft, Niche, Traditional Home, and Craft Report Magazines. San Francisco’s KCBS talk radio interviewed her after she was invited to create a holiday ornament for the Clinton Blue Room Christmas Tree in the White House. At the same time, she was commissioned by Victorian Magazine to create an ornament to be placed on the tree in the Women’s Museum of Art in Washington, DC. She was featured in two segments of HGTV’s “That’s Clever” television show. Many celebrities have purchased her work including Sandra Bullock and John Travolta.

In August 2021, she relocated her Hopscotch Gifts & Gallery retail space inside Fulton Crossing. She has recently produced mixed media glass pieces for her Fulton Crossing Gallery wall as well as created prints on glass for home décor. She currently mentors other artists and helps emerging artists understand the business of art. She is single and enjoys gardening, cooking, and her family.
