Carrie LeBlanc
They had always known that they had wanted to create art, but did not connect their special interest of cats and art until 2019. Prior to this, they had obtained a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration with a concentration in Account from Sonoma State University in 2013 and became a Certified Public Accountant from the California Board of Accountancy in 2015. They would then get their Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 2021 while continuing to create paintings of cats to express their love for cats.
While not many artists are known for also practicing public accounting, Carrie has found an overlap between accounting and art in their ability to focus in on the details. Their painting style focuses on bringing the purrsonaltiy of each cat they paint to life in a way that can be easily recognized by anyone who loves cats.
Their current series is heavily inspired by internet culture and cat memes, “Cats of the Internet” premiered in 2022 featuring well known cats from the early 2000s to current day such as I can haz cheezburger, Heavy Breathing, Long Cat, Thurston Waffles, Ollie the Polite Cat, and Wisp the Kitten. The process for many these paintings were recorded and published through social media, circling back to the source of inspiration.
In addition, Carrie has donated art and helped raise proceeds for cat focused nonprofits including Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County, Kitten Rescue Los Angeles, Love your Feral Felines, and Golden Oldies Cat Rescue.
