Queen of the night flowers are magical. They bloom briefly once a year and then only at night.
I painted this bouquet to appear elusive for that reason.
The cultural interpretations also fascinated me.
For example in Chinese culture the bloom is interpreted as similar to someone who has an impressive but very brief moment of glory, like a "flash in a pan," or a "show off".
Where as in Japan the flower is known as the "Beauty under the Moon".
In Sri Lanka it is called "Kadupul" which means the flower from heaven.
In Indonesia "Flower of Triumph".
